Exploring ethical captive management of reptiles & amphibians through the lens of biological science, conservation, and human nature. The Animals at Home Network is a herpetoculture-based podcast network that hosts: Animals at Home Podcast by Dillon Perron, Project Herpetoculture by Phillip Lietz and Roy Arthur Blodgett, Reptiles & Research Podcast by Liam Sinclair and Ellie Hills, and Animals Everywhere by Bryce Broom. Each show on the network brings all members of the reptile community together to discuss reptile husbandry, scientific research, breeding, wildlife conservation, and more!
In this episode, we are joined by Ryan of Marshall Arachnids. Ryan and his partner Jess run Marshall Arachnids, and they are focused on promoting a natural history-based captive husbandry for tarantulas. Ryan and Jess are focused on adding the elements of husbandry back into tarantula care that we find in the wild, such as heating, lighting, photo periods, misting and rain cycles, and humidity/temperature drops. If you're somebody who either keeps tarantulas or wants to get into tarantula keeping, this will be a very powerful episode for you.

Bill Strand of the Chameleon Academy is no stranger to herpetoculture. Bill has been keeping chameleons for decades and of course founded the Chameleon Academy, a multi-media chameleon education resource. It’s hard to think of a person who has done more for a group of captive species than Bill Strand. Bill’s podcast, YouTube channel, website, and care guides are a staple among chameleon keepers and he has been a catalyst in the movement towards natural keeping and breeding. In this episode, we discuss Bill’s history keeping chameleons, his caging company, Dragon Strand, and of course the Chameleon Academy.
